CTI 1.0 / INCUBATION
Electromotion provides an affordable and efficient electric auto-rickshaw retrofit solution that reduces emissions, minimizes noise pollution, and significantly lowers operating and maintenance costs. RetroKit converts existing autorickshaws to electric without altering the chassis.
The model requires intensive field engagement with unions and drivers, but limited business development capacity makes sustained outreach difficult.
Limited documentation and low awareness of updated norms among drivers delay retrofit permit applications and fuel misconceptions about legality.
Dependence on multiple regulatory approvals creates bottlenecks that slow production and sales cycles.

Prevents approximately 2.5-3 tonnes of carbon emissions per converted autorickshaw each year.
Results in an estimated 15-18 tonnes of carbon savings over the vehicle’s operational lifespan.
India’s shift to electric mobility is essential, but autorickshaw electrification has largely relied on full vehicle replacement, a slow and capital-intensive model that struggles to scale. Most autorickshaws on the road remain mechanically sound, and scrapping them adds avoidable emissions while placing high upfront costs on low-margin drivers. RetroKit, developed by Electromotion e-Vidyut Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., offers a practical alternative by converting existing autorickshaws to electric without altering the chassis.
